History (Continued)

In a systems engineering tutorial in 1999, Howard Eisner commented that he wish he could understand why some authors' books were so widely read, particularly by upper management.

I thought about how fad of the day was so fleeting while there is such enduring values in so many basic practices.  Perhaps the process du' jour is read because it seems to offer quick solutions to saving or making money -- a strong business driver at all levels.

Making systems thinking have immediate value could be a good thing.

Also contributing to my willingness to take on this task are the many start-up challenges I repeated faced during my career.  We seemed to be solving the same startup and small project problems over and over. Efforts to used watered-down version of more extensive processes more suited to larger or more mature efforts did not give the results I wanted nor were easy enough to use.
